Priorities

I like to think of myself as having my priorities set up pretty well. I have a good sense or what’s important and what’s not and I am willing to make sacrifices in order to achieve them. Nothing detrimental like sleep, food, family, of social activity, more like video games, movies, and other distracting media. In general, I find the best way to keep your priorities straight is to think of it this way, does this impact people besides myself, if yes, then it’s a high propriety. That mentality does not apply to everything but it’s a good starting point when trying to figure out what’s important. However, there are going to be things that are hard to pin down but still vital in some way. When dealing with those I look at it this way, I’ve finished everything important right now and I still have time for these other things lets give each about twenty minutes. This way everything is getting worked on to some degree, even if it's just a little, but that time does build up.
Yet we’re all human and have the occasional slip. Mine usually come when there is a lot on my plate or I react poorly to a curveball. For instance, during this last project, the first draft of the business doc was not put in on time, so I spent the next week scrambling to correct that mistake. Thanks to this my focus were now entirely on the documents and nothing else, letting other aspects of the project, the wiki, for instance, to fall apart.
So I would say a good way to avoid that is to know full well what needs to be turned in and what can be skimped on one week to beef up another document. In the end, this is just one big balancing act and you got to understand where and when can you take weight of the scales and keep the sides level.
